Keep your HVAC system maintained.

I think that this seems like a no brainer, but making sure that your air filters are changed on a regular basis as well as making sure that you have your furnace checked and routine maintenance done is incredibly important. Plus, it is always a good idea to keep up with the yearly maintenance to hopefully avoid costly repair bills when an issue sneaks up on you. 

Seal Leaky Windows

Often times the biggest culprit of your home being chilly during the cold weather, has to do with your windows. The lack of a tight seal on your windows can cause heat to escape and cold air to take over. Usually a weather stripping will do the trick when it comes to eliminating the draft issue.

Insulate your water heater

We know this sounds totally crazy, but a water heater that isn’t insulated can use a lot of energy resources. You can purchase a water heater ‘jacket’ from your local home improvement store.

Upgrade your existing insulation

Of course we are a bit biased when it comes to this tip, but we also find it to be the most effective. Just because you are past the building stage when it comes to your home, doesn’t mean that you are locked into the same, insulation forever.
